Even though there have been numerous Motorhead best of's, live collections, and box sets issued, more and more crop up each year. 2000's OVER THE TOP is a rarities collection of sorts, featuring 12 tracks of alternate takes, B-sides, and other forgotten numbers.

Highlights include the infamous 1981 UK hit "Please Don't Touch" (which was a collaboration between Motorhead and the all-female metal band Girlschool), an alternate take of "Over the Top," plus covers of "Train Kept A Rollin'" and "Louie Louie." Although most of these tracks are included on the late-90's remastered versions of Motorhead's early CD catalogue, longtime fans will enjoy having them all on a single disc.

Motorhead are a British rock band formed in 1975 by bassist, singer and songwriter Ian Fraser Kilmister, known mostly by his stage name Lemmy, who has remained the sole constant member. The band pre-dated, but are sometimes regarded as part of, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Usually a power trio, Motorhead had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep 'til Hammersmith, cemented Motorhead's reputation as one of Britain's foremost rock bands
