If you're on Windows Vista or Windows 7 and having problems running the installer.

Apparently larger programs take longer to display the UAC "Run as Admin" confirmation when run, so you just need to wait for a good while to run the installer after clicking it. As the installer is over 3GB, long wait times are sure to result.

If waiting isn't your thing, you can also disable UAC in msconfig and run the installer after rebooting

Very easy installation,for those of you who run it and find it crashes on startup, create a shortcut to the hl2.exe application,

then add \"-no -dxlevel 90 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0\" (without quotes) to the end of the \"Target\" line.

Alternatively, you can try running it in windowed mode (\"-window\")
