A new artist breaks the mold: Jonathan Roy. Piercingly honest and highly creative, just as he is, with his debut album WHAT I’VE BECOME. Originally from Pointe-Claire, Québec, Jonathan Roy leaves his hometown at the age of six with his family. His father’s hockey career takes him to Colorado for the next decade where he grows up combining his studies and hockey. Back in Québec, Jonathan joins the Québec Remparts hockey team in 2006, pursuing his two passions at age 20: hockey and music. Attracted at first by rap music, Jonathan now brings a new experience to folk rock. Greatly inspired by such artists as John Mayer, Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson, Jonathan walks the lonely road to delivering all the lyrics of his first album. His childhood poems are transformed into songs. Life itself becomes a melody: his own personal experiences, his joys and sorrows, but also his friends, and their lives. The result of this reflection gives birth to an incredible form of release through a healthy injection of meaningful lyrics and soothing melodies that reflect Jonathan’s authenticity and honesty. The title of his debut album says it all: WHAT I’VE BECOME. Thirteen songs, a young singer/songwriter/composer: JONATHAN ROY.
