System Requirements -- It is assumed that you're currently running at least OSX 10.6. Some software in this collection is not compatibile with 10.4, 10.5, or the PowerPC architecture. You should be able to find alternatives through their respective websites if you're not running 10.6.

All of this software is either free, open source, or shareware. If you're looking for serials/cracks, you won't find them here as I will not provide them. The purpose of this torrent is to allow you to pick and choose the software you want/need for your Mac without having to look everywhere. Until Ninite creates a service for Macintosh similar to what they offer for Windows, I will keep pumping out these collections.

The software in these collections are based on personal experience and/or recommendations from friends, and are the latest versions as of 8-4-10.

Acorn Free
Simple image editor, runs in 64-bit mode.

Adium
Multi-Protocol Instant Messenger that supports AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Googletalk, ICQ, Jabber, MobileMe, BonJour, MySpace, Facebook, Sametime, GroupWise, QQ, and Gadu-Gadu. Has a myriad of expansions and addons available at their website.

AIM_for_Mac
AOL's Instant Messenger for Mac. Includes the "Lifestream" feature for including Twitter and Facebook integration.

Appointments
Events/Contacts/Customers management software.

Artisteer
Joomla/Drupal/Wordpress Template creator that gives you a WYSIWYG interface for handling CSS layouts.

BatchMod
Allows for mass-scale file/folder permissions.

Bean
A word processor written in Cocoa. Partially compatible with Word file formats.

Burn
CD/DVD Burning application for burning Data, Audio, Video, and making copies.

Caffeine
Menubar utility that prevents your Mac's screen from dimming, and your Mac from going to sleep.

Carbon Copy Cloner
Clones your entire hard drive
as a bootable-backup. Very useful if you want to upgrade to a larger hard drive but not deal with the wait time of Time Machine.

ClipMenu
Clipboard manager, runs in 64-bit mode.

CrossLoop
Allows for VNC-based computer control for Mac and PC. An absolute must for handling family-related technical support.

Cyberduck
FTP/SFTP/WebDAV/Cloud/Google Docs/Amazon S3 browser for file management.

DAA Converter
Converts DAA & GBI disk images to ISO.

DropBox
Cloud-based storage. Excellent for transferring files when USB isn't available.

FileZilla
Multi-OS FTP file manager.

Firefox
Extensions and worldwide compatibility make this the favorite browser of choice for many Mac users, myself included.

FlashPlayer10_1
Adobe's Flash Player 10.1 release for Mac. Utilizes the GPU for processing flash content.

Fluid
Creates applications based on websites. Awesome for making a "true" Pandora desktop app.

Folx
Download manager that you can use for downloading files instead of your web browser.

Fraise
Hands down the best free text editor for Mac, a continuation of "Smultron". This guide was written using Fraise.

GeekBench
Measures CPU and Memory performance of your Mac.

Growl
Pop-up notification system that supports a wide array of applications.

HandBrake
Rip DVD's and convert movie files into various different formats. Runs in 64-bit mode.

IceClean
System Maintenance tool based on UNIX.

KeePassX
Database for storing passwords. Also generates passwords based on character length and character input.

MacLoc 2
Activates the Fast User Switching feature to make it appear that you've "logged out" when you've actually locked your Mac from access.

Magic Number Machine
Expanded scientific calculator.

Messenger 8
Beta of the newest version of Microsoft Messenger. Supports video chat but your mileage may vary.

Twitter/Digg/RSS/Facebook manager all in one place. Unpaid version has VERY small advertisements that are unintrusive.

Switch
Audio converter for Mac. Excellent if you need to convert audio for video editing, or from FLAC to mp3 for iTunes (if you actually do that kinda thing).

Syncmate
Syncs your Windows Mobile device with your Mac's Address Book, Calendar entries, to dos, browser bookmarks, Mail/Entourage notes, iTunes, folders, etc.

TheUnarchiver
The equivalent of 7-Zip on Mac. The quintessential, absolute must have utility for extracting archived files.

Thunderbird
Email client built by Mozilla.

Timeout
A Break Reminder tool with micro-breaks. Excellent for when you don't take enough breaks in working on projects.

TrashMe
Application remover tool that removes not just the application, but also all the associated files/folders. An absolute must-have.

Trillian
Multi-protocol IM client for Mac that supports AOL/MSN/Facebook/Gtalk and other clients.

Tweetie
Twitter manager that presents tweets in an attractive layout.

uTorrent
The most popular torrent manager is finally out of beta for Mac.

Vienna
RSS feed reader.

VLC
Plays just about every video codec under the sun.

WiFi Scanner
802.11 wireless scanner and connection manager.

WM Components
Components for viewing Windows Media Video files in Quicktime.
