Instant Text Finder is an index-based desktop text search tool for software developers and IT professionals. It is specifically designed for searching в a very large (and we mean large) number of files. Instant Text Finder is an index-based search tool. After your files are indexed, subsequent searches take only a few seconds because Instant Text Finder already knows where the results are. In our tests, searches on over 10,000 files that returned fewer than 100 results took less than 3 seconds on average. This ability to find text quickly frees users from having to narrow the scope of their searches, by either file type or file location.

Minimal indexing
- Unlike other desktop search tools, Instant Text Finder does not perform any indexing in the background. This means that you will not see a sudden performance drop on your computer while you are working on an important task. Indexing is done only when the user initiates it.
- Instant Text Finder can detect changes in file contents and will offer users the option of updating its index.
- The indexing process is fast. Instant Text Finder processes only essential data, so creating and updating index is fast. The size of the index data file is usually very small.
Instant Text Finder indexes all file types by default (excluding files containing null characters). Users can specify file types that should be excluded from the search.

Syntax Highlighter
- Source code is much more readable with the syntax highlighter
- Instant Text Finder provides syntax highlighters for C#, C++, javascript, XML, VB.NET, PHP, HTML and ASP.
- It automatically determines the correct highlighter based on a file's extension, but users can override this.

Overview Bar
- Users frequently want to find all occurrences of a word or string within a file or to compare the position of one string relative to another.
- Instant Text Finder provides a vertical Overview Bar that represents the entire file. It marks the search string's positions with a yellow line in the Overview Bar.
- The current screen view is shown with a small box in the Overview Bar.

Find as you type
- In addition to the Overview Bar, this feature allows users to see all occurrences of a specific string within a search result.
- Just type what you are looking for in the file view window and Instant Text Finder will highlight all occurrences of that string in real time.
- Because the Overview Bar shows all occurrences of the string, you can easily compare their positions.

Filter results
- When there are too many search results, users need a way to filter these.
- Users can filter results by file extensions or by file locations. More than one extension or location filter can be applied.
