It resides in the system tray and detects when Windows is shutting down / rebooting. It will then ask you to confirm whether you want the computer to shut down. Access the program settings and other features by right-clicking on the program's icon in the system tray (this area is usually at the bottom right of the screen).

Notes:
When you prevent a shut down under Windows Vista (R) you may see the message "this program is preventing Windows from shutting down" . Simply respond to the message accordingly.

The program does not necessarily prevent other applications from shutting down.

The program can be password protected so the computer won't shut down without the password (this might not work with forced shut downs).
